Seeing For Yourself

When people talk about Spirituality, I think the thing that bothers me most is people just listening to others preach about their spiritual experienes, and create their personal religions accordingly. A good spiritual leader doesn't tell you what to believe, but teaches you how to see for yourself.

It is most wise to, rather than just listen to the experiences of others, examine different beliefs for yourself first.

Try opening different religious doors, see what you like for yourself. A good spiritual teacher will teach you how to communicate with whatever it is you are trying to access. Go to a meditation retreat. Test out different churches. Go visit a Guru. Go travel; go to Israel, go to India, go to Thailand. See if your God is a male, female, or neither; see if you believe in multiple Gods, or if you are a God, or if there is no God.

It doesn't matter how you choose to search for yourself, I just think it is important that you do. I mean, what if you spend your entire life trying to believe in something that doesn't completely resonate with you? Perhaps you beliefe in this because it's what your parents believed in, and they raised you that way. What if it wasn't even what your parents truley believed in?

On your death bed, you might be really freaked out that you never quite found something that you fully believed in. You might feel like you cheated yourself, like you cheated the system.

So, try seeing for yourself; try knocking on some doors. See what's out there. If you start to open a door and you get a bad feeling, great, close that door, and walk away with a greater knowing. If you open a door and it feels right, keeping walking through, and see how far you can go.
